- These days I am working from my sketches and drawings instead of plein air painting. The drawings are almost all done with my quill pens (on paper) and ink, with some watercolor or gouache paint. The vitality of the lines made with the quill pens is really inspiring. When I'm canvas painting, I fasten a drawing next to the easel (or on the easel) to look at. As I work I see in the drawing things that I was missing before. The process is not about copying the drawing onto the canvas. It could be described as a process of transmutation of what I see when I'm looking at the drawing. After you look at this blog, you might want to check out my website: eddieching.com.
